Introducing the Underground Zine Archive
The Underground Zine Archive is a working project set up by Rita Hynes in association with Drogheda Zine Fair.
Driven by a love of weirdo zinemaking, punk culture and bootlegs. This archive is not-for-profit, autonomous and non-hierarchical. Against labels, algorithmic recommendations and commercial publishing. The Underground Zine Archive thrives on upheaval and change, unstructured learning.
Rita has set up this archive in her hometown to create a mobile, socially engaged space where you can browse zines and contribute to conversations around zinemaking and DIY culture. The collection initially took shape at local gigs, zine fairs and radical bookshops. It currently comprises of donations from friends and fellow zinemakers, and is constantly growing.
The Underground Zine Archive officially launches at L-Space Convention, a radical, DIY community-led book fair hosted by local action groups in Drogheda. The collection will be on display at Drogheda Zine Fair’s stall to browse Sunday 12th May, 1-4pm at The Watchtower in McHughs pub.
If you are a DIY space, community group or events organiser, let's collaborate! Get in touch with Rita at droghedazinefair@gmail.com if you'd like to host this collection for an event or contribute to the archive.
